Multidisciplinary Fellowship in
Interventional Oncology (AT)
learn from the best
The division of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology at the department of Biomedical Imaging and Image-Guided therapy at the Medical University Vienna in Austria (chair: Prof. Dr. Christian Loewe) performs – besides other, vascular, therapies – a broad variation of oncological interventional treatments. These include biliary interventions, arterial liver embolization (TACE, radioembolization), portal vein and hepatic vein embolization, as well as image-guided ablation treatments (navigated microwave ablation). Modern equipment is used including a biplanar angiography system, a combined CT-DSA machine (“Nexaris”) and a navigation system. Comprehensive abdominal and digestive imaging is performed in order to carefully plan the procedures using state-of-the-art imaging equipment including CT scanners with multispectral technology, 3T MRI. Strong collaboration between the clinical departments and groups (hepatology, gastroenterology, hepatobiliary surgery, pancreatic surgery, and visceral surgery), the department of pathology allows optimal patient management and fruitful research.
The combination of an inspiring academic institute and highly subspecialised hepatobiliary and pancreatic practice will make that this two-week multidisciplinary fellowship will be a unique experience for you and your clinical partner to gain knowledge in imaging and multidisciplinary management of patients with hepatobiliary and/or pancreatic disease.
