Fellowship Programme

The ESOR Jo Li Visiting Fellowship Programme on Neuroradiology offers qualified radiologists from China and Hong Kong the opportunity to study advanced techniques, imaging protocols and practices.
During three months of training the fellow will be provided with a structured, modular training on the chosen topic (see below) and will be supervised by a specialised tutor at University Hospital Birmingham (UHB), United Kingdom.
The UHB is one of the largest teaching hospital Trusts in England, serving a regional, national, and international population and provide a series of highly specialist neuroradiology, cardiac, liver and neurosurgery services to patients from across the UK.

how to apply
Eligibility
- This fellowship is applicable to fully qualified and practising radiologists residing in China or Hong Kong at any stage of their career.
- Competence in producing a radiological report and communicating with clinicians and patients are essential. Knowledge of the principles of administration and management applied to a clinical department with multi-disciplinary staff and high-cost equipment are appreciated.
- Previous experience in neuroradiology would be advantageous.
- Applicants must be proficient in English.
- Candidates may be interviewed prior to selection.
- Active ESR membership is required. A membership is free for radiologists residing outside Europe. Please click here to become an ESR member.

- GMC (General Medical Council) registration will be required from the selected applicant in case the grant winner strives for more than an observership. For more information, please consult the GMC
- The fellow is responsible for his/her own health insurance and for his/ her own visa arrangements. For visa purposes it might be necessary for the selected fellow to arrive in and depart from Europe within 90 days.

The fellow is asked to take care of his/her working permit and insurance. Please note that he/she is responsible for his/her visa. The training centre will help the fellow with all organisational details.

Duration of Fellowship and Funding
The fellowship will last for three months from April 1, 2025 to June 30, 2025. Please note that a postponement of the training period is not possible. The successful applicant will receive a grant by the Jo Li Trust paid out via ESOR. The training is offered for free by the assigned training center.

The programme offers a structured modular training in neuroradiology with a strong research focus. The fellow will participate in a subspecialty research project under the direct supervision of a faculty mentor. The fellow will also have the opportunity to observe case readout sessions with trainee and faculty radiologists, and to attend a variety of didactic lectures and disease management conferences.

Certification
After completion of the training programme, the fellow receives a certificate from ESR/ESOR. In order to receive this, the fellow must present a written report about his/her work and activities during the programme
